Pheriche Lodge
Easier breathing and a well-earned rest after Everest Base Camp
Stay in Pheriche (4,240 m), the first night down after Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar, in a broad valley below Taboche and Cholatse. Night 10 on our 14-day Everest Base Camp Trek.
About Pheriche Lodge
Pheriche (4,240 m) lies in a broad, windswept valley below Taboche and Cholatse, on the direct trail down from Everest Base Camp. After the cold, thin air of Gorak Shep, this is where breathing suddenly feels easier and most trekkers enjoy their best night’s sleep in days. Pheriche is also home to the Himalayan Rescue Association’s high-altitude aid post, which has helped trekkers since the 1970s.
Your night in Pheriche
You arrive on Day 10, after the sunrise climb of Kala Patthar, breakfast in Gorak Shep and the long walk down past Lobuche and the Thukla memorials. The next day you continue down to Namche Bazaar.
What the lodge is like
Lodges are basic: twin rooms with beds and blankets, mostly shared bathrooms and a heated dining room. Hot showers, charging and Wi-Fi are usually available for a fee. The valley can be windy and nights are still cold, around -10°C or lower, so keep your warm layers handy.
