Dingboche Lodge
Two acclimatisation nights below Ama Dablam before the high Khumbu
Stay in Dingboche (4,410 m), a sunny village of stone-walled fields below Ama Dablam and Lhotse. You sleep here on Days 6 and 7 of our 14-day Everest Base Camp Trek, including the second acclimatisation day.
About Dingboche Lodge
Dingboche (4,410 m) is a wide, sunny bowl of stone-walled fields below Ama Dablam, Lhotse and Island Peak, and your home for two nights on the Everest Base Camp Trek. It is the last large village before the high, rocky country of the Khumbu Glacier, with a good choice of lodges, bakeries and even a few cafes.
Your nights in Dingboche
You arrive on Day 6 from Tengboche via Pangboche, and stay a second night on Day 7, the acclimatisation day with the climb up Nangkartshang Peak (about 5,080 m) for views of Makalu, Lhotse and the Imja Valley. Read more about Dingboche village.
What the lodge is like
Lodges are basic to medium quality: twin rooms with beds and blankets, shared or occasionally attached bathrooms, and a heated dining room where everyone gathers in the evening. Hot showers, charging and Wi-Fi are usually available for a fee. Nights fall to about -10°C, so a warm sleeping bag and a down jacket are essential.
Tips for your stay
- Keep the rest day: it is what prepares your body for Lobuche and Base Camp.
- Drink 3-4 litres of water a day and tell your guide about any headache.
- Treat yourself at one of the village bakeries.
- Charge devices and power banks here; it gets more expensive higher up.
Highlights

- Village bakeries and cafes
