The Lukla flight alone is worth the trip. Nothing prepares you for that 20-minute flight banking between Himalayan peaks and landing on that tiny uphill runway with a cliff at the end. Then you step out and the Himalayas are just everywhere. 14 days later at Kala Patthar watching Everest in the dawn light, I understood why people dedicate their lives to these mountains. Nobody ever mentions the food enough in these reviews. The dal bhat in the tea houses is genuinely delicious and the unlimited refills policy is one of the best things that exists at any altitude. The apple pies in Namche bakeries should be internationally famous. The garlic soup at Lobuche saved my soul on a cold evening when everything felt hard. And the farewell dinner in Kathmandu on Day 13 was perfect.
