The trek is physically demanding, the tea houses are basic above 4,000m, and the altitude is very real — but none of that matters when you're at Kala Patthar watching the most spectacular sunrise on the planet. Nobody ever mentions the food enough in these reviews. The dal bhat in the tea houses is genuinely delicious and the unlimited refills policy is one of the best things that exists at any altitude. The apple pies in Namche bakeries should be internationally famous. The garlic soup at Lobuche saved my soul on a cold evening when everything felt hard. And the farewell dinner in Kathmandu on Day 13 was perfect.
